Festival Camping Guide
Part 1- Hiding Your Alcohol
Check the rules (some festivals don’t let you bring in your own drinks, others can have strict rules on not bringing glass etc.)
-
Mouth wash trick (Use and old mouth wash bottle, thoroughly rinse it out, add your alcohol then add blue food coloring), Keep the seal intact as much as possible.
- Juice box syringe trick- Choose a full tray of your favorite boxed juice, lift a corner of each juice box use a syringe out a set amount of juice then syringe in the same amount of your chosen alcohol. Wait for it to dry. Use a hot glue gun to cover the hole made and glue the corner back down.
- Cold pack trick- Find empty cold packs that you can fill with them with your alcohol of choice. Freeze them and put them your chili-Bin.
- Lotion/ Sunscreen bottle trick- Find an empty sunscreen bottle, make sure you rinse it out thoroughly. Add your chosen alcohol and hide it in your toiletry bag. Better yet you could also use a after sun bottle and keep this in your chili-bin.
- Use Food to hide it- Wrap it up in a kabab or hollow out a loaf of bread.
Part 2- Making it easy
- Send someone ahead to scope out the best spot- you don’t want your lug your bags around in the sun and get tired before you start setting up.
- Try find a flat area- you don’t want to sleep on a slope
- Find shade under a tree or make your own with a gazebo- Otherwise, the sun will be your alarm clock.
- Check for debris and clear the area- Sharp rocks can damage your tent and be very uncomfortable to sleep on.
- Check your surroundings- Look for walk ways, out of bound areas and portaloos. You don’t want to set up right next to a loud path, dirty toilets or get told you have to have to move after you’re spent a bunch of energy setting up.
Invest in a good quality tent- Bell tents are fun for festivals and have a lot of space but all that matters is that it is big enough for your things and good quality to last the whole festival and many more. Another option is to have a smaller tent and invest in a gazebo or shelter to expand your space and provide rain and Sun shelter.
Use a Gazebo to increase your outside space- It provides shade and rain cover and a place to hang out before and after heading into the festival.
Bring a door Mat or big picnic blanket- This can really spruce up your campsite, it makes the campsite so homely and comfortable. Somewhere you can take off muddy shoes before going into your tent.
Bring a chair- Although not essential, it is so nice to be able to sit down at your campsite. Bring a light weight camping chair or if you’re tight for space bring a inflatable chair.
Light up your camp- Use lights to decorate your tent, it makes it look fantastic and helps you find your campsite in the dark at the end of the night- Link to neon lights
